With China becoming the second largest titanium dioxide manufacturer in the world, domestic companies have paid great attention to energy efficiency. Some key enterprises have already made progress through recycling the "three wastes" (waste gas, waste water and waste residues). Besides advanced technology and equipment, Chinese manufacturers are also importing sensible management concept from foreign counterparts.

Big names, including Shandong Doguide, Sichuan Lomon, Henan Billions and Pangang, have made contribution to the technological development of cleaner production and energy efficiency in producing sulfuric acid process titanium dioxide. The new sulphur-titanium combined production technology, a cleaner one, has already achieved permission from state environmental protection department.

Henan Billions Chemicals Co., Ltd. has established a cooperative relationship with PPG Group in 2012. According to its agreement with PPG, Billions will pay by installments for the right to use PPG’s chloride technology in China. It has also signed a contract with German enterprise Kontakt Chemie, agreeing that Kontakt Chemie will provide Billions with a new chloride technology that can produce 0.1million tonne titanium dioxide every year, along with materials for the designing, building and operating of a chloride factory.

Billions’s moves show that Chinese titanium dioxide manufacturers are well on their way of sustainable development as well as quality improvement.

Under this circumstance, the acceleration of industry integration will be inevitable this year and a strong tendency of merging and recombination in Chinese titanium dioxide industry has already taken shape.
