Time: 2025-01-14 Source from: Titanos

According to statistics from the Secretariat of the Titanium Dioxide Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, in 2024, there are 42 full-process titanium dioxide production enterprises with normal production conditions in the industry (excluding post-processing/post-treatment enterprises). The total amount of rutile (including sulfuric acid process full-process crude products, finished products, and chloride process products) and anatase titanium dioxide and other related products produced by these 42 enterprises reached 4.766 million tons, an increase of 606,000 tons over the previous year, an increase of 14.57%.

Among the total amount of 4.766 million tons of titanium dioxide and related products, rutile products accounted for 4.051 million tons, accounting for 85.00% of the total output, a decrease of 1.54 percentage points over the previous year; anatase accounted for 560,000 tons, accounting for 11.75% of the total output, an increase of 1.64 percentage points over the previous year; non-pigment grade and other types of products accounted for 156,000 tons, accounting for 3.27%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point over the previous year. Of the total output of 4.766 million tons of titanium dioxide, 663,000 tons were produced by the chloride process, down 29,000 tons from the previous year, a decrease of 4.19%. This is the first annual decline in the output of the chloride process in recent years.

In 2024, the output of chloride products accounted for 13.91% of the total output of titanium dioxide, a year-on-year decrease of 2.72 percentage points; it accounted for 16.37% of the output of rutile products, a year-on-year decrease of 2.85 percentage points. In 2024, among the 40 comparable manufacturers, 10 had a year-on-year decrease in output, and most of the remaining manufacturers increased, with some remaining the same. In 2024, two of the existing manufacturers stopped production or closed, but two new companies were put into production. In 2024, the average capacity utilization rate of the entire titanium dioxide industry was 80.64%, which is a low figure, indicating a significant overcapacity.
