In accordance with the 12th Five-year Development Program, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published the New Materials Industry Standardization Three-year Action Plan on July 5.

According to the Plan, by 2015, 50 key standards will be pre-studied, 200 key standards will be drafted or revised, and 300 new materials standard program will start. The Plan is supposed to cover 400 key new material products raised by the Five-year Development Program and shape a key technology standard system.

One of the main tasks mentioned by the Plan is to take greater efforts to set standards of key new materials.

In area of advanced high polymer materials, the key new materials refer to butyl rubber, polyamide, battery diaphragm, optical functional film, specific separating membrane, environment friendly coatings and other functional chemicals.

When it comes to high-performance composite materials, to set standards of carbon fiber, basalt fiber and fiber reinforced composite materials will take priority.

Standardization of cutting-edge new materials will focus on the standard development of nano-powder, grapheme, biological materials and smart materials.
