Cabot Corp. has launched the Vulcan XCmax family of super conductive specialty carbon blacks for use in plastics applications in which compounders and end-users require high conductivity at low carbon black loadings.

Cabot Corp. said the products are specifically designed with a unique morphology that builds on Cabot’s proprietary furnace black process technology. It said the product provides among the highest range of conductivities achievable with carbon blacks as well as excellent cleanliness and consistency. Cabot Corp. also introduced a new line of conductive concentrates to complement its existing Cabelec conductive compounds products.

AZCO Corp. has designed a modular rotary shear cutter capable of making hundreds of cuts per minute.

AZCO Corp. said the rotary knife assemblies can be incorporated easily into new machines or inserted into an existing process and includes bolt-in, modular design, high speed and clean cuts.

The rotary blade shear cuts against a hardened anvil and the blade materials are thru-hardened D-2 tool steel. Precision bearings are used and designed to take high load forces, AZCO Corp. said.

The unit will be supplied with an output shaft, made with custom requirements and mounting holes are provided for easy installation.

Eriez Manufacturing Co. is offering a brochure showcasing the company’s Orange University mobile training and education center. The four-page brochure, “Eriez Brings Its Education & Training Team to Your Facility,” is available for immediate download online and in hard copy format, by request.

The brochure describes sample curriculum and course topics. Typical course topics may include magnetic separation, metal detection and material handling. The Orange University mobile team customizes every session to address the participants’ specific application challenges.

Eriez said its Orange University mobile training and education center is a 38-foot Winnebago, which is currently equipped with products for food, pharmaceutical, chemical, processing, plastics and light manufacturing applications.

The Orange University mobile training and education center travels North America to deliver hands-on learning to all who step aboard.

The current Orange University mobile training and education center layout features magnetic separators, vibratory conveyors and screeners and metal detectors, Eriez said. A Smart Board interactive system that enables session leaders to pull up video presentations quickly, customize drawings and fulfill other customer requests on demand is also onboard to enhance the learning experience.

Repsol YPF S.A. has launched Repsol Alcupol P range, an enhanced range of polymeric polyols for the comfort sector.

Repsol said the improvement has allowed a reduction of up to 40 percent in total volatiles, which represents another step in compliance with the most stringent standards. This improvement principally affects Repsol Alcupol P3041, and therefore the whole derived range such as: Repsol Alcupol P3621, Repsol Alcupol P3921, Repsol Alcupol P4181 and Repsol Alcupol P4311.

With this range enhancement, the company aims to meet the comfort sector’s specific requirements, involving mostly mattresses and sofas, in pursuit of its strategy of constantly generating value with products and services adapted to its customers’ needs.

Wacker Chemie A.G. is assigning additional marketing rights to its sales partner, Silspek Rubber, for the sale of high-temperature-curing silicones.

Wacker said it is allowing the Polish silicone compounder to market ready-to-use silicone rubber compounds based on Wacker raw materials with the label “Based on Elastosil.” This also applies to products distributed under the company’s own label. The main customers for silicone compounds are rubber processors that manufacture molded parts for the automotive, construction, electronics, cable and household-goods industries.

When manufacturing silicone compounds, crosslinkers, pigments and other additives are mixed into the rubber base. These kinds of ready-to-use compounds find application in many industrial areas. Application fields range from gaskets, molded parts and cable insulation to rubber-coated rolls in photocopiers.
