Over 20 overseas manufacturers and 60 factories, with a total annual capacity of 4.7 million, produce more than two-thirds of the world titanium dioxide products, statistics show.
Monopoly producers, namely DuPont, Millennium, Kerr-McGee, Huntsman, National Lead in the U.S. and Ishihara in Japan, make 65 percent of total titanium dioxide output in the world. The annual capacity of the six giants would respectively be 1.08 million, 0.72 million, 0.5 million, 0.6 million, 0.43 million and 0.22 million metric tons.
Chlorination process titanium dioxide products, with higher quality and less pollution, account for the majority in the overseas markets but only 2 percent in China. Globally speaking, the proportion of chlorination process titanium dioxide is now 56 percent.
