With the “Golden September” drawing to a close, growth rate of titanium dioxide prices is also slowing down. Some manufacturers announced price increase last week as their inventory has shrunk due to production restriction.
On Sep 20, DuPont announced that it will increase prices by US$100/mt on all of its titanium dioxide products sold in North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Asia Pacific regions, effective Oct. 1, 2013. But the news stirred up hardly any wave in domestic market as the demands are still far from satisfactory.
Current titanium dioxide prices (price including tax):
Rutile titanium dioxide: 13,200-14,500 yuan/mt
Anatase titanium dioxide: 11,200-12,500 yuan/mt
Market Forecast:
The just past and the coming month, usually nicknamed “Golden September” and “Silver October”, are traditionally peak season for manufacturing industries. For titanium dioxide market, however, the closing prices for September are quite disappointing and few domestic manufacturers are ready for price increase in the coming “Silver October”, so titanium dioxide prices are less likely to see a huge rise in short term.
