TiCl4 oxyhydrogen hydrolysis produces nanotubes titanium dioxide

The method of production principle is similar with that of white carbon black, which imports TiCl4 gas into hydrogen flames (700 ~ 1000℃) with the process of gas phase hydrolysis. The equation as follows:
TiCl4(g)+2H2(g)+O2(g)===TiO2(s)+4HCl(g)

This method is developed by Germany's company (DegussaAG) successfully, and produced one of famous brand (P-25) of current nanotube titanium dioxide. In addition, American CABOT Corp and Japanese Aerosil company companies, etc, use this method to produce nanometer titanium dioxide. This nanotube titanium dioxide produced by this method, generally is the mixture of anatase and rutile type of titanium dioxide, with characteristics of high purity(99.5%), narrow size distribution, smooth surface without holes, good dispersion and low reunion degree. It is mainly used for electronic materials, catalyst, ultraviolet screening agent and functional ceramics, etc. The process features ia that the process is shorter, a higher degree of automation, but because of the higher temperature, serious corrosion, the strict request of the equipment material, the process parameters must be accurate, so the products cost is high, and investment is big, and general factories cannot bear.

This process can control product crystal by adjusting the volume concentration of gas hydrogen in the mixed gas of TiCl4, H2 and air, with hydrogen of the volume concentration in 15% ~ 17%, and gets the rutile type of nanometer TiO2, below or more than the proportion, gets the mixed crystal type of nanometer TiO2. China Shenyang YungXin chemical Co., LTD, based on  the gas phase method technology of white carbon black, used this method to produce the nanometer TiO2.
