According to a recent report on papermaking industry’s development prospect and investment strategy, market size of China’s papermaking industry will exceed 1.5trillion Chinese Yuan by 2015.

For domestic manufacturers, the majority of raw materials for specialty paper have a high degree of dependence on import, and the risks have already showed up.

Chile’s severe earthquake in 2010 and Finland’s great strike this year both badly affect global raw material supply, and consequently, dramatically raise the prices of specialty paper. Paper manufacturers, home and abroad, even have to scale back production and reduce stocks as manufacturing costs of many kinds of paper products have reached a 10-year high.

The upward trend is not going to stabilize in the short run, and coming years by end of 2015 may see capacity of over 46 million metric tons.
