Diacerein is a slow-acting drug that is used to treat joint diseases such as osteoarthritis. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-catabolic and pro-anabolic properties on cartilage and synovial membrane. It has also recently been shown to have protective effects against subchondral bone remodelling. It is made from aloe emodin.

According to a report by Dataintelo, the global diacerein market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2022 to 2030. The market growth is attributed to the increasing prevalence of arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, bullae epidermolysis, pemphigus, and pemphigoid.
