The difference between zircon sand and zirconium silicate

Time: 2023-11-17 Source from: Titanos
Zircon sand and zirconium silicate are two different materials. Zircon sand is a naturally occurring mineral that is found in ancient mineral sand deposits. It is primarily composed of zirconium silicate (ZrSiO4) and is typically brown, but could also vary from colourless to yellow-golden, pink and red to blue and green. Zircon sand is used in a variety of applications, including foundry applications, refractories, ceramics, opacifiers, fused zirconia, zirconium chemicals, and zirconium metal.

Zirconium silicate, on the other hand, is a synthetic material that is produced by reacting zircon sand with coke, iron borings, or other materials. It is used in a variety of applications, including ceramics, refractories, and electronics.
