According to the speech of Liu Pujun, President of the China Coatings Industry Association at the annual conference, since the beginning of this year, China's coatings industry has withstood the severe test of a slowdown in the global economy, disruptions in the operation of industrial and supply chains, and increased downward pressure on the market, and has shown a trend of steady progress and good development.

From January to September 2023, the overall development of the coatings industry: the total output of coatings from January to September was 26.9108 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%. The total main business income from January to September was 299.301 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 4.2%, and the total profit was 17.641 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%.

From January to August, China's paint exports continued to maintain double-digit growth, while imports gradually decreased. It is expected that in the second half of 2023, the coatings industry will maintain steady growth as a whole. Due to objective reasons, the base number in 2022 is low and the base number in 2021 is high. Comparing the two years together, output increased by 1% to 2%, main business income increased by -1%, and total profit increased by approximately -3.8%.
