MOSCOW (MRC) - Oversupply of polypropylene (PP) in the domestic market and the rouble devaluation made Russian producers significantly increase  their export volumes. November exports of PP from Russia increased to 18,400 tonnes, as per MRC DataScope.

Russian producers decreased their PP exports significantly in July - September this year because of a series of scheduled maintenance works.
But since October, the sales of PP to foreign markets have been growing steadily, helped by growth in production volumes and the devaluation of the rouble against the dollar.

November PP exports from Russia grew to 18,400 tonnes, compared with 11,500 in October. Export geography expanded considerably in November. Tobolsk-Polymer began to export its PP to South America, particularly in Brazil and Peru. The company continues to increase its presence in the European market and in Africa. After a short break, the Ufaorgsintez and Poliom resumed PP sales in Turkey and China.

The presence of Russian polypropylene has been increasing in the CIS markets. It is expected that the Russian producers in the future will continue to increase PP exports.

Total PP exports from Russia grew to 156,300 tonnes in the first eleven months of this year, compared with 93,100 tonnes year on year.
