Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., has introduced its Shin-Etsu Select-Skin RTV Elastomers series for applications requiring a skin-like material with tough performance properties.
Select-Skin RTV Elastomers are comprised of two series, Shin-Etsu said, the “super soft” SES22330 (1:1 ratio) and the “tough skin” SES22230 (10:1 ratio). Both series are two-component, heat-cured and addition-cure type silicone rubber compounds featuring low hardness, high tear strength, low viscosity, high elongation and low tackiness.
Shin-Etsu said each series offers three Shore 00 hardness options: the super soft SES22330 (10, 20 and 30) and the tough skin SES22230 (45, 55, and 65) and although all of the products are soft, they have a skin-like feel that is dry and not oily.
These products can be used for movie making, liners for orthopedic prosthetics, cushioning, and animatronics skins for theme parks and other forms of entertainment.
When used in liners, Shin-Etsu said the materials are ideal for protection from shear forces to reduce compressive stresses and the suspension of the prosthetic device. The materials can be used to accommodate unique limb shapes and volume fluctuations.
Since they are translucent, Select-Skin can be readily pigmented for a customized appearance, Shin-Etsu said, and the series’ fast cure time at room temperature reduces cycle time and improves productivity.
Spectronics Corp. has released the Spectroline OLK-444 Industrial Leak Detection Kit that can pinpoint leaks in any size oil-based fluid system.
Spectronics said the kit can locate leaks quickly and accurately in hydraulic systems, compressors, engines, gearboxes and fuel systems, which prevents expensive equipment breakdowns and potential environmental problems.
According to Spectronics, the Spectroline OLK-444 Industrial Leak Detection Kit features:
• OPTI-LUX 400 violet light LED leak detection flashlight, which has power comparable to high-intensity 150-watt lamps.
• Sixteen ounce twin-neck bottle of patented OIL-GLO 44 concentrated oil dye, which is compatible with all synthetic and petroleum-based fluids.
• Eight-ounce spray bottle of Glo-Away dye cleaner, a cradle with AC and DC cord sets, dye treatment tags and fluorescence-enhancing glasses.
Emulate3D Inc. has partnered with Hytrol Conveyor Co. Inc. to provide simulations for the Hytrol Integration Partner Network. The software provided by Emulate3D will allow Hytrol to use 3D models from its HyCAD/ HEROES software to quickly create and run simulations.
Emulate said this is a cost effective solution to creating those models, since the software works seamlessly with Hytrol’s current software to create the simulations.
Integration Partners will have two options for use of the software: Purchase individual simulations directly from Hytrol; or buy the modeling and simulation software at a significant discount from Emulate3D to use as needed.
The software is available now to all of the Hytrol Integration Partner Network.
