Carbon Black Prices Decreased in September

Carbon black prices dropped slightly in September by 0.47% to CNY￥6296.36 per tonne month-on-month, down 4.67% year-on-year.
The overall operating rate fell to 70%, but adequate stocks prevented carbon black prices from rising.
Prevailing prices of carbon black is now CNY￥6,500 to 6,600 per tonne in Shandong Province, CNY￥6,800 in Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province, and CNY￥6,000 in Shanxi Province.
Prices of coal tar, one of the main raw materials of carbon black production, decreased by 1.91% to CNY￥2484.3 per tonne month-on-month. Carbon black's biggest consumer tyre industry suffered unfavorable market sentiment and sluggish sales last month, casting a shadow on carbon black markets.
SunSirs' analyst Chen Ling says that Chinese carbon black prices may stay low in October.
