A new analysis by Frost & Sullivan shows that the road markings and traffic paints and coatings market earned revenues of EUR 1.66 billion in 2013 and is estimated to reach EUR 1.95 billion in 2020. In their Strategic Analysis of Road-marking and Traffic Paints and Coatings Market in North America and Europe, the business consulting firm assesses that performance–based coatings will be increasingly used in Europe while the North American market will gradually focus on waterborne solutions.

 

"Governments in both Europe and North America have rolled out initiatives to improve road infrastructure, boosting sale volumes as well as encouraging the development of durable, high-performance products with enhanced visibility and skid resistance," explains research analyst Soundarya Shankar. The report further highlights the growing importance of temperature or humidity sensitive paints which glow under certain conditions to warn drivers about dangers such as ice or slipperiness.
