It is reported that in the first half year of 2014, the industry has emerged the downturn since 2013. The total productions started to rebound this March, which has presented negative growth for four consecutive months since the end of last year. And the productions increased at least 8 percent year-on-year, indicating a recovery of coatings industry.

 

According to the production statistics from the Coating Industry in the first half year of 2014, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hunan and Shandong ranked top 5. The total productions of coating industry in Guangdong Province are 1.5399 million metric tons, up 5.47% year-on-year. The total productions in Shanghai are 910,500 metric tons, up 19.56% year-on-year. The total productions in Jiangsu Province are 903,100 metric tons, up 2.07% year-on-year. The productions in Guangdong, Shanghai and Jiangsu, respectively ranking top 3, account for 43.49% of China’s total productions in the first half of this year. In addition, the productions in Zhejiang, Sichuan, Henan and Hebei are considerable.

 

As can be seen in the bar chart, the coatings productions in main areas presented a monthly growth trend, showing a significant recovery in coatings industry. Among them, the coatings productions in Hunan Province showed substantial growth, up 22.15% year-on-year compared to the first half of last year, making Hunan Province one of the best performing areas.
