Weak domestic demands may drag down titanium dioxide prices

Titanium dioxide prices experienced several rises in late June, though the low prices of raw materials including titanium ore and sulfuric acid failed to back up titanium dioxide manufacturers’ moves.

Prices of rutile titanium dioxide in China range from 11800 to 13100 yuan/mt and 9800 to 11000 for anatase ones, both including tax.

Though demands keep shrinking, growing export contributes a lot to current stability in titanium dioxide prices, says Yang Xun, analyst of SunSirs. According to latest statistics from General Administration of Customs, China’s export of titanium dioxide in May is 51190.69 metric tons, up 54.93% year-on-year.

Domestic markets are still far from satisfactory, and current titanium dioxide prices may not stay long, Yang says.
