PA imports to Russia can be considered in the context of the following types of polymer: PA 6, PA 6.66, PA 66, polyamide resins and other polyamide types. Their share in the external supply in the reporting period was 37%, 27%, 13%, 12% and 9% respectively. Decrease in imports was mainly due to the segments PA 66 and polyamide resins.

 

Thus, imports of PA 66 were 650 tonnes in January-April 2014, down 35%  from the same period last year. This type of PA was used mainly for automotive components moulding. Russia"s car production in the first quarter of this year was 448,000 units, down 4% from the corresponding period last year on the back of poorer demand and lower purchasing capacity of consumers.

 

Russia"s imports of PA resins decreased by 35% and dropped to 407 tonnes over the reported period. The main use of polyamide resins is the construction sector, which dropped by 3% in Q1 2014 in Russia. The volume of construction works amounted to 903.4 billion roubles over the reported period.

 

High season in the construction traditionally occurs for September and October, and demand for building materials gets stronger in summer period. Buying activity in this segment is weakening in the winter and spring.

 

Polyamides are rigid material with high strength at break, and high resistance to abrasion, have a high softening temperature and steam sterilization is kept to 140 пїЅ C. The polymer has a lot of different kinds, the most famous of which are PA 6, PA 6.66, PA 66, PA 12, PA 610, PA 11. The material is widely used in automobile and mechanical engineering, manufacturing various kinds of electrical engineering, construction, and also in the production of packaging film and the textile industry.
