Some international business giants of tio2 industry has raised price for titanium dioxide products recently, which may, to some extent, influence the Chinese tio2 market.

Tronox has announced a price increase on June 1st for titanium dioxide products. Prices for all Tronox titanium dioxide products sold in Latin America, Asia-Pacific area, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa will be increased by a minimum of US$175 per metric ton.

DuPont, another leading manufacturer, has also announced price increase for titanium dioxide products sold in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa by US$200 per metric ton, and those in Eurozone by 160 Euro per metric ton. In North America, all DuPont titanium dioxide, except for those applied in the production of paper and paperboard, will charge eight more cents per Pound. The new prices will be effective since July 1st.

The two companies’ move even boosted several related stocks last week, and analysts believe that the tio2 market is likely to rebound in the second half of 2013 with the recovery of real estate industry.

According to Wang Xianlong, Chairman Secretary of Anhui Annada Titanium Industry Co., Ltd., current tio2 market is still not prosperous enough to increase price.

“Tronox and DuPont have not raised the price of tio2 products sold in China yet, and domestic companies will need time to decide whether to follow them if they do announce price increase in the future,” said Wang.

Ning Kecheng, General Manager of Shanghai Titanos Industry Co. Ltd., says that this month is a vital period for domestic demands to rebound. “Prices of Chinese titanium dioxide has already hit bottom and those of imported products are increasing,” said Ning. “Besides, recovering overseas market may boost exports in June.”
